Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as a primary lay leader in the synagogue, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees. This position oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations, including:

Success in this role requires exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to collaborate with clergy, professional staff, lay leaders, and members. The Executive Director will help ensure Congregation B’nai Tikvah’s continued growth and sustainability by leveraging resources and innovative practices to achieve our mission.

Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Strategic Planning
Partner with the Rabbi, Board, and lay leaders to implement systems and processes
aligned with the synagogue’s mission and values.
Identify and secure alternative funding sources, including grants, endowments, donor
cultivation, and fundraising initiatives.
Financial Management
Collaborate with the Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Finance Manager to develop and
manage the annual budget and ensure fiscal sustainability.
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including membership dues, vendor payments,
payroll, and grants.
Membership Relations & Communications
Partner with the Membership Committee to drive outreach, recruitment, and retention
strategies.
Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective members and address member
concerns with care and sensitivity.
Grow volunteer engagement and foster a sense of community among members.
Oversee all communications, including weekly emails, website updates, social media, and
marketing materials.
Facilities Management
Ensure the synagogue’s facilities are safe, secure, and well-maintained.
Oversee building operations, including maintenance, security, insurance, rentals, and
tenant relationships.
Supervise facilities staff and collaborate with vendors and committees to meet property
management needs.
Program Management & Logistics
Support clergy, staff, and lay leaders in planning and executing programs, events, and
High Holiday logistics.
Oversee the synagogue calendar and coordinate administrative support for lifecycle
events (e.g., weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs).
Staff Supervision & Human Resources
Supervise administrative and facilities staff, fostering a positive and collaborative
workplace culture.
Oversee vendor relationships, contractor agreements, and staff benefits programs.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a dedicated, emotionally intelligent leader with experience in organizational
management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering a thriving Jewish community
and possess the following qualifications:
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher).
Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and foster
collaboration.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
Proficiency with technology, including hardware, software, and security systems.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with Jewish traditions and communal life, or a willingness to learn.
Human Resource management experience.
Demonstrated success in donor relations and fundraising.
Experience with Shul Cloud or similar software
