Graphic Design Specialist

Job Summary

North Shore Synagogue (Syosset, NY) is seeking a part-time creative graphic design speacialist, with a marketing background and a stong communication skillset to join our amazing team.

This person will help support the synagogue in delivering effective communication media crafted for our membership and the community, including but not limited to creating flyers, producing our quarterly bulletin, posting on social media, making videos, updating our website, and more. This person will be working independently as well as collaboratively with the Executive Director, other professional staff and clergy, as well as volunteer leaders.

This person will be responsible for creating visually appealing and engaging designs and marketing tools that help to promote our synagogue, nursery school, religious school, public and private events, classes and programs. They will need to interact with professional and volunteer staff to ensure timely delivery of content. The ideal candidate will look to identify opportunities to highlight our activities in local media and to advertise our offerings via social and traditional media.

This job is part-time, with flexible hours. The person will be required to be in the building one day a week and the rest of the hours can be completed at home or in person. 

Qualifications:

•  Two or more years of experience in a professional (or academic) role using graphic design, communications, and marketing skills
• Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator or similar program
• Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills for planning ahead and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to reach out to internal and external stakeholders
