Position Overview

Are you passionate about storytelling, love creating content, and want to use your skills to make a real difference? Jewish National Fund-USA is looking for a rising star—a creative, enthusiastic, and organized Social Media Associate—to help share the incredible work we’re doing in Israel’s North and South with the world. Reporting to the Director of Communications and working in partnership with our Audience Development Analyst to tailor content for engagement and impact, you’ll help manage our rapidly-growing social presence, support content creation, and amplify the voice of one of the most dynamic nonprofits in the Jewish world.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who’s hungry to learn, grow, and be part of something bigger than just ‘likes’ and ‘follows.’

Reports To: Director of Communications

Employment Type: Full-Time

 

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Create and schedule engaging content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter), plus emerging platforms like Threads and BlueSky.
  • Support the development of social videos, graphics, and written posts that reflect our brand and mission.
  • Attend local events in NYC and capture behind-the-scenes content to bring our community along for the ride.

 

Engagement & Community Building

  • Respond to comments and messages across platforms in a timely and positive manner.
  • Help monitor conversations around Israel, philanthropy, and Zionism—and jump in when it makes sense.
  • Support the creation of messaging tailored for diverse audiences, from Gen Z to legacy supporters.

 

Analytics & Reporting

  • Work in close partnership with an in-house Audience Development Analyst to better target and engage our key audiences

 

Support Campaigns & Strategy

  • Assist with paid campaign execution and performance tracking (training provided).
  • Help brainstorm content ideas for key campaigns, initiatives, and donor outreach.

 

Stay Curious

  • Keep an eye on trends in social media, nonprofit storytelling, and digital advocacy.
  • Suggest new ideas and content formats—we love innovation!

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Business, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 1–4 years of experience managing or creating content for social media accounts (professional, internship, or volunteer experience welcome).
  • Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
  • Some experience with content creation tools
  • A strong writer with a sense of humor and a feel for voice and tone.
  • Passion for Israel, Zionism, and making a difference through digital storytelling.
  • Eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a mission-driven team.

 

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have used tools like Hootsuite, Postoplan, Sprout, or Buffer.
  • Have experience with basic video editing or graphic design.
  • Are familiar with Jewish National Fund-USA’s work or nonprofit communications.
  • Know how to interpret basic social media analytics.
