Job Summary
This is an opportunity to join the dynamic team of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in North America. We are seeking a Finance and Accounting Associate to assist the Senior Director of Finance with all aspects of non-profit financial management. We work in tandem with our colleagues at the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, and the Finance and Accounting Associate's work can span many departments. The Finance and Accounting Associate is responsible for the accounting functions of the US-based organization including maintaining QuickBooks, preparing monthly budget reports and acting as the liaison for the annual audit. This is a remote position in the US.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
- Manage QuickBooks - enter and maintain all income and expense data, and update general ledger accounts.
- Prepare monthly budgets for review by management, including annual and capital campaign.
- Gather information for annual audit and attend to the requests of external CPA firm.
- Provide proper coding for all QuickBooks entries, as directed by supervisor: includes understanding and tracking restricted and unrestricted funds and navigating donor and campaign information in Salesforce database
- Prepare data for monthly funds going to Pardes in Israel.
- Manage receipts and American Express bill for all staff cardholders.
- Prepare monthly cash reports.
- Reconcile all bank accounts, researching and resolving any issues in the process.
- Process semi-monthly payroll, 403b contribution reports, and staff reimbursements in conjunction with our PEO, Insperity.
- Accounts Payable: set up new vendors, prepare checks and wire/ACH payments online.
- Have understanding of working with independent contractors and prepare 1099s for the organization.
- Assist other departments with accounting report requests.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Job Specific Knowledge/Skills/Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a degree in Accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience.
- Proven bookkeeping/accounting experience in nonprofit, with understanding of GAAP nonprofit accounting policies and procedures.
- Experience using QuickBooks accounting system required.
- Experience with database systems like Salesforce strongly preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple project deadlines.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel.
- Experience with PEOs like Insperity helpful.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Discernment of when to ask for help or for more information, and when to figure something out oneself.
- Clear communication: strong written and verbal communication skills taking a proactive approach to obtaining required information to complete assigned projects. Timely communication with staff and outside correspondence.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Can be a team player, as well as able to work independently.
- Flexibility to work with different time zones.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. Benefits include but are not limited to: 100% health insurance for the employee, 403b matching plan, paid time off, paid holidays (Jewish and secular), FSA, and parental leave. Pardes is an equal opportunity employer.
