Events and Membership Coordinator

Jewish Orthodox Women's Medical Association (JOWMA)  Location: New York/North New Jersey Area (In-person events required)

Objectives:

The Events and Membership Coordinator at JOWMA will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our in-person events, enhancing member satisfaction, and managing various aspects of our mental health programs in New York schools. This position requires a dynamic, organized, and people-oriented individual who is passionate about community health, wellness, and mental health advocacy.

Responsibilities:

1 .  Membership Activity & Recruitment:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for JOWMA members, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Actively recruit physicians and trainees to join JOWMA’s membership, expanding the organization’s reach and impact.
  • Manage and moderate JOWMA’s WhatsApp chats, ensuring respectful and meaningful interactions among members.
  • Gather demographic information on JOWMA members to achieve a broader understanding of where our members are from.
  1. Event Management:
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all in-person events, including community health events, physician support events, and wellness programs.
  • Work closely with vendors, venues, volunteers, and relevant staff members to ensure events are executed smoothly and within budget.
  • Ensure all event logistics, from registration to on-site management, are handled efficiently.
  1. Data Management:
  • Maintain accurate records of event attendance, member interactions, and program participation.
  • Compile and analyze data to provide insights and recommendations for improving JOWMA’s services.

 

Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning, membership management, or a related role.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.

- Familiarity with the NY/NJ area and willingness to travel for in-person events.

- Proficiency in Google Office  and experience with data tracking and reporting.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

- Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of the Orthodox Jewish community.

- This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend work required to attend events.

- The role requires regular travel within the NY/NJ area for in-person events.

JOWMA will however investigate reports of inappropriate online conduct and maintains the right to discipline employees/contractors for misconduct or lack of professionalism wherever it occurs, including online.
