The Parent & Child Class Assistant is responsible for supporting the Lead Instructor in delivering enriching and engaging classes for infants and toddlers. This part-time role involves direct interaction with children and caregivers, as well as handling the practical aspects of preparing the classroom, setting up activities, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. The Assistant plays a crucial support role, helping to create a welcoming and organized space where children can thrive.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with young children, especially in a supportive role, is preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certification required within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Florida Department of Children and Families, Child Care Facility Training must be initiated within the first 90 days
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing class materials and maintaining the classroom environment.
  • Ability to relate well to both children and adults, maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Comfortable using a computer and able to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively with the Lead Instructor.
  • Friendly, approachable, and open-minded with a can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to learn not just about the job but also about the culture of the environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, and pull with or without accommodations.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to sit on the floor for long periods and stand up unassisted.
  • Respectful and non-judgmental toward all participants
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with a multicultural client/customer population
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Lead Instructor in preparing and setting up materials and toys for each session, ensuring the room is ready for class.
  • Support the Lead Instructor during classes by interacting with children and helping them engage with activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment by sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces before and after each session.
  • Change diapers and attend to other immediate needs of the children as required during the class.
  • Prepping the room with supplies and toys for upcoming sessions, ensuring everything is in place and ready for use.
  • Assist in adapting activities to meet the developmental needs of the children, under the guidance of the Lead Instructor.
  • Use a computer for basic tasks and demonstrate the ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Work closely with the Lead Instructor, following their direction and providing support as needed.
  • While not responsible for parent communication, ensure that parents feel welcomed and supported during drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
