About JCP:
The Jewish Community Project (JCP) of Lower Manhattan was founded in 2002 as a grassroots effort to grow Jewish life in downtown NYC. Based in Tribeca, JCP is an open and organic Jewish community that enables individuals and families to become a creative force in the life of the organization through educational, cultural, social, and spiritual experiences. The organization now serves approximately 300 downtown families and individuals, and also operates a prominent Early Childhood Center (ECC) and Hebrew School Project (HSP).

About the role:
JCP is seeking a creative, flexible, organized and motivated individual to serve as the Community Events Manager on the Jewish Community Project team. The Community Events Manager will report to the Chief of Staff and will work closely with the Rabbi, Executive Director, staff, and lay leadership to implement a vision for Jewish Life at JCP.

What you’ll do:

* Brainstorm, plan, attend and execute events, programs, and content for Shabbat and Jewish holidays, community service opportunities, educational offerings, social gatherings, and other projects
* Serve as point person for event planning and inquiries from lay leader committees.
* Serve as a forward-facing contact for inquiries about community events and membership, providing information and support as needed

Ensure a high volume of Jewish lifecycle events, including b’nai mitzvah, weddings, baby namings and brisim, are thoughtfully executed.
* Serve as the main point of contact for event planners and other third-party vendors on event logistics (e.g. venue, entertainment, sound, lighting, livestream, etc.)

* Set up and break down events
* Create and print written materials for b’nai mitzvah and other life cycle events, including pamphlets and sheets with Torah readings and family letters
* Answer inquiries from the general public about programs and life cycle events, and provide general information about the JCP community
* Other tasks as directed or assigned by the Chief of Staff

How your success will be measured:

* Smooth running of the events calendar with minimal need for intervention
* Positive feedback from post-event surveys and debrief sessions
* Progress toward broader organizational goals related to membership, community growth, etc.

Requirements:

* 1-4 years of professional experience, preferably in a non-profit or Jewish communal setting
* Experience managing both the design and execution of events for up to 75 people
* Knowledge of Jewish rituals and culture, and/or openness to learning.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a polished and professional demeanor
* Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
* A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make decisions on the fly
* Experience mastering technology tools and using their data to inform your decisions
* Alignment with our core values of community, collaboration, and inclusivity
* Please note: this position requires some work on the evenings and weekends (including Shabbat and Jewish holidays) to support community events as needed

Physical Requirements:

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
* Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

Why you should be excited:

* Join a unique and vibrant Jewish community that is passionate about inclusivity and pluralism and make a meaningful impact on our continued growth in downtown NYC
