Description: Full Time Elementary General Studies Assistant Teacher

Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, a community Jewish day school, seeks an energetic, passionate, and flexible elementary school teaching assistant to begin in August 2025. The successful candidate will be professional and collaborative, will possess personal integrity, and will be enthusiastic about participating in our Jewish community of lifelong learners.  Responsibilities will include:

• Work cooperatively and supportively with lead teachers in implementing a balanced, creative, and challenging general studies program
• Establish and maintain standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement
• Promote active participation of all students to ensure a positive and rewarding experience in the classroom, at play, during transitions, and throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with colleagues and administration as needed regarding students' social, emotional, and physical development.
• Support teachers to ensure that curriculum and lessons are geared to meet the needs of multiple levels of ability and a wide range of learners.
• Provide one-on-one, small, and whole group assistance and supervision, both inside and outdoors.
• Assist in grading and filing classroom and homework assignments.
• Create bulletin boards with the team as needed.

 Successful candidates will have:

• Passion for and enjoyment of young children and learning
• Experience working with elementary-aged children
• Understanding of child development and the unique needs of children at each stage of development
• Comfort/expertise with technology for communications and instruction
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with people of all levels in a professional and constructive manner
• Flexibility to work in multiple settings and shared facilities
• Desire to engender a love of learning as well as a caring, professional demeanor and the willingness to work as part of multiple teams (grade level team, general and Judaic studies teachers, specialist teachers, and administration)

Heschel offers competitive salaries and benefits, as well as a collegial working environment. The hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 an hour.
