High School Student Activities Coordinator & Judaic Studies Teacher

Atlanta Jewish Academy (AJA) is a Modern Orthodox college preparatory, co-educational, infant to twelfth grade, independent Jewish Day School. AJA develops the whole person for college and life by fostering a love of Torah, Israel, and all Jewish people through an excellent general studies and Judaic education within an inclusive, nurturing community.

Overview:

AJA seeks a dynamic educator who can envision, design, and run dynamic, meaningful, and engaging events for 9th-12th grade students.  The role also includes teaching Judaic Studies classes to round out the Full Time position.  Preferred candidates are experienced, energizing professionals who have run Shabbatons, yemei Iyun, Color Wars, etc. and who are also proficient in pedagogy and leading Judaic Studies lessons. The ideal candidate excels at forging relationships with students and works well as a member of a thoughtful team.

AJA is poised for growth over the upcoming few years, and rebbeim and morot who want to have the opportunity to influence the growth of Atlanta’s various communities and this school in particular are invited to reach out. AJA features a robust mentoring program and is capable of inducting new-to-the-field high school teachers who are looking for a nurturing leadership team to develop their talents. 

Responsibilities:

Activities:

• Run the various annual grade level and high school Shabbatons, including:
• Housing
• Learning Sessions
• Food Arrangements
• Staffing
• Design Color War and other school bonding events
• Organize special program days including:
• The Yom programs of April & May
• Chaggim (incl. Purim and Chanuka) and Yamim Noraim Programs
• Incorporate Shinshinim, Shlichim, and Bnot Sherut into high school events

Teaching:

• Teach two-three Limudei Kodesh sections
• Attend, lead, and manage davening
• Build curricula in tandem with fellow teachers and supervising administrators
• Grow through Professional Development opportunities

Qualifications:

• Experience working in an educational setting, preferably in a Jewish day school
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of Jewish practice and texts 
• Facility with methods of instruction and classroom management
• Able to develop relationships with students, teachers, and parents
• Hebrew language proficiency a bonus!
