Position Summary:

 

The Associate Dean for Strategy will play a critical role in the effective, efficient, and transparent leadership of Stern College for Women and Yeshiva College, the two undergraduate colleges of arts and sciences at Yeshiva University. Reporting to the Dean of the Undergraduate Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Associate Dean for Strategy will provide strategic, analytic, managerial, and logistical support to ensure that the schools achieve their goals in the short and long terms. The position serves as a member of the schools' senior leadership team and provides counsel to the Dean befitting that status.

 

The anticipated start date is between October 2024 and January 2025.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic and Analytical Support:

 

  • Collaborate in the facilitation of strategic planning across the two colleges, as well as the prioritization and implementation of steps pursuant to strategic goals.
  • Gather information and conduct analysis for potential solutions and recommendations around a range of strategic and operational issues.
  • Provide informed, independent counsel during meetings.
  • Monitor alignment between the colleges' mission and day-to-day operations.

 

  • Oversight of Operations:

 

  • Collaborate with the Dean, the Associate Deans for Academic Affairs, and department chairs to oversee academic operations, ensuring that they are fully aligned with the schools' mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and college administrators to oversee business and logistical operations, ensuring that they are fully aligned with the schools' mission and goals.
  • Together with the Dean, Associate Deans for Academic Affairs, and college administrators, collaborate in communication with student-facing offices, including the Dean of Students, Academic Advisors, Student Success, Counseling, Financial Aid, and the Registrar, to ensure that students' needs are being met and the student experience is positive.
  • Assist the Dean with the preparation and management of annual budgets for the two colleges to ensure that resources are allocated fairly, transparently, and in line with strategic goals. Facilitate the budget process and disseminate budgets among the department chairs and support their planning and best use of resources to align with their missions and goals.
  • Identify gaps in operational systems and strategize with the Dean and school leadership about how best to close them.

 

  • Time, Project, and Workstream Management:

 

  • Help the Dean's Office to prioritize tasks and make efficient use of time, including through the creation and management of tracking systems for tasks and projects.
  • Manage governance processes and the creation of schedules, agendas, and materials for meetings. Facilitate the work of the Dean and the Associate Deans for Academic Affairs in ensuring healthy governance structures across the two colleges.
  • Attend meetings of the senior leadership and governance committees; gather, organize, and analyze information for meetings; and capture action items and ensure follow-through.
  • Support the Dean in advancing specific projects and tasks, managing and executing special projects as requested.
  • Develop and monitor execution plans, track information, and coordinate with involved parties across the colleges and in other units at the university.
  • Assist in planning, facilitating, and monitoring the Dean's relationship building and stakeholder engagement.

 

  • Communications:

 

  • Collaborate with the Dean to prepare talking points and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Dean and the Associate Deans for Academic Affairs to publicize excellence in faculty and student work across the two colleges.
  • Monitor and ensure appropriate responses to inquiries submitted to the Dean's Office.
  • Help to ensure that all communications are professional, polished, and empathetic, and that they reflect the colleges' mission.

 

Experience & Educational Background:

 

A background in management and planning is essential; prior experience in and strong familiarity with the administration of higher education is highly desirable.

 

Master's degree in business, higher education, or similar experience. Doctorate preferred.

Aligned with the mission of the undergraduate colleges, the ideal candidate demonstrates excellent skills in organization, management, and collaboration, as well as empathy and clarity in both written and verbal communication and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Salary Range:
