Gan Ami Program Coordinator

Temple Beth Ami is a vibrant Reform Jewish congregation in Rockville, MD. Gan Ami is the name of our early childhood department which offers preschool for children ages 2-preK, parent-child classes for children under 2, and family engagement programs. Our school was established in 1989 and continues to evolve in response to the needs of our community. Our vision: “Every child is prepared for future social and intellectual pursuits, and every family feels a meaningful connection with our community.”

The Gan Ami Program Coordinator works under the supervision of the Early Childhood Director and with the Administrative Manager to support all teachers and families and foster extracurricular activities of the early childhood department.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for early education and Jewish community building, experience in program design and implementation, superior organizational and interpersonal communication skills, and great comfort acting flexibly in a fast-paced environment.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Plan, support, and attend school-wide extracurricular programs.
  • Research, budget, and order all program and classroom supplies.
  • Design logistical plans for programs in collaboration with program leaders.
  • Support teachers with classroom projects (e.g., art, holidays).
  • Create displays for classes and school, in conjunction with teachers’ visions.
  • Provide tech support for staff.
  • Serve on Temple’s Communications Team to promote family and school programs.
  • Promote Gan Ami through the website and social media with Temple’s Digital Communications Manager.
  • Serve as liaison to The Parent Committee, advising, supporting, and promoting their goals and programs.
  • Coordinate with Temple programs involving Gan Ami families (e.g., Purim activities, Tikkun Olam initiatives).
  • Maintain relations with school alumni families to promote engagement with the Temple.
  • Direct Gan Ami Summer Program, collaborating with Summer Program Administration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in child development, education, or related field)
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
• Attitude of professionalism, collaboration, acceptance, and inclusivity
• Strong time management skills and ability to adequately prioritize multiple projects at once
• Ability to create and maintain physical and digital organizational systems
• Advanced facility with MS Office Suite
• Ability to learn basic graphics and database programs
• Preferred experience in summer camp, early childhood settings, Jewish communal programs, event planning

On-Site Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility to participate in school planning and programming. (Hours vary in summer.)

Salary60,000.00 - 65,000.00 Annual
