Our client, The American Friends of Beit Ruth www.beitruth.com represents Beit Ruth for  Young Women and Girls at Risk. Beit Ruth is a long-term therapeutic residence, school, and Youth Village in Israel with a mission to ensure that vulnerable and at-risk girls are given the opportunity to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically, thereby breaking the cycle of violence for themselves and future generations of children. In a safe, structured, and loving home-like environment, Beit Ruth staff provide the academic and therapeutic resources necessary to enable at-risk girls to re-enter society as caring, educated, independent, and empowered young women. Through advocacy, we share our best practices and model  program to educate, empower, and engage a global community to create social change 

Position Overview 

American Friends of Beit Ruth (hereinafter “Beit Ruth”) seeks an experienced, passionate, and ideas-driven Communications & Grants Manager (hereinafter “Manager”) to join its Manhattan office. This full-time hybrid position offers the opportunity to gain international non-profit experience with a leading organization focused on empowering at-risk girls, advocacy, and gender equality.

Reporting to the Executive Director (hereinafter “ED”) and working closely with the Development Director and Israel-based Program team, the Manager will play a vital role in showcasing Beit Ruth’s transformational work and driving its impact. The Manager will lead communication and grant strategies to deepen relationships with existing and potential Foundations, stakeholders, and partners while contributing to the organization’s overall growth and revenue generation.

This position requires occasional weekend work.

Foundations and Grants Management

  • Direct and manage the Foundation and Grants strategy, including identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing relationships.
  • Collaborate with leadership in the U.S. and Israel to grow revenue streams focused on institutional, organizational, and family foundations.
  • Lead research, relationship-building, and identification of aligned priorities to recommend and develop strategic funding asks.
  • Oversee the grant process and calendar, including preparing and submitting LOIs, applications, proposals, reports, and related materials.
  • Work closely with Beit Ruth’s Finance consultant to ensure accurate budgets and financials for grant opportunities and reporting.

Communications and Outreach

  • Manage and execute all aspects of communications to engage and activate donors, partners, and prospects, including individuals, foundations, and institutional partners.
  • Develop compelling digital and print communications, including appeals, quarterly e-newsletters, annual reports, donor and Board updates, social media content, website updates, and event materials.
  • Create and manage a Communications Calendar to plan campaigns and outreach efforts.
  • Prepare messaging, talking points, and speeches for presentations and events.
  • Secure media opportunities to amplify Beit Ruth’s visibility.
  • Contribute to programs and events, including materials and remarks for Beit Ruth’s Gala and other special occasions.

Partnerships and Special Initiatives

  • Act as a key liaison between the U.S. and Israel teams to stay informed on Village activities, events, and programs, ensuring alignment in messaging and storytelling.
  • Steward relationships with institutional partners, including Federations and Foundations.
  • Support special programs such as the B’nai Mitzvah Program and University Fellowship programs.
  • Collaborate on conceptualizing and enhancing programs to align with organizational goals.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, grants management, and communications, with a proven ability to persuasively engage diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a strong focus on storytelling and relationship-building.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), and familiarity with donor management databases.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively and professionally.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of independent work.
  • Social justice-oriented and passionate about communicating Beit Ruth’s mission and accomplishments.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Israel and the Jewish philanthropic community.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and other tools, including Constant Contact, Canva, and Squarespace.
  • Strategic thinker with initiative and enthusiasm for grant writing and communications.
  • Creative and resourceful with a demonstrated ability to successfully complete projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and active listening abilities for engaging with cross-cultural teams and external partners.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver who is flexible and adaptable in dynamic environments.
