Job Title: Bookkeeper
Department: Finance
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Director of Finance

Summary

Temple Israel of the City of New York is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to join our Finance Department. This role is primarily responsible for payroll processing and accounts payable. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff across the organization and provide essential support to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP Total Source.
  • Manage payroll preview, approvals, and final submission.
  • Handle new hire setup, employee changes, and timecard reviews.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and ensure accurate wage and deduction processing.

Accounts Payable

  • Process accounts payable transactions and maintain documentation in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT (FE/NXT).
  • Communicate with vendors to maintain positive relationships and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor and reconcile corporate credit card activity.

Additional Duties

  • Support annual financial audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding new hires, including entry into ADP and internal systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in ADP Total Source is required.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT (FE NXT) strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Must be able to speak and write in grammatically correct English.

Compensation & Work Environment

  • Salary Range: $70,000–$75,000
  • Work Setting: Hybrid
  • Job Type: Full-Time
