Essential Job Functions:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the processing of financial transactions for AFMDA, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This role collaborates with other departments to ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures. 

Job Duties:

  • Oversee the completion of month-end closing activities by the accounting staff, specifically in the general ledger, accounts payable, and revenue.
  • Ensure proper coding of financial transactions in accounts payable, general ledger and gift processing.
  • Oversee and review accounting reconciliations for gift processing across platforms, ensuring bank accounts and clearings are reconciled timely and accurately.
  • Review data reports from Raiser’s Edge against detailed data in NetSuite to ensure transactions are aligned properly and import revenue into NetSuite.
  • Support external Israel accountant in the creation of purchase orders for program expenses in NetSuite, prepare program expense payable lists for processing.
  • Receive, communicate and book stock and bond gifts received from donors in the general ledger, maintain detailed spreadsheet.
  • Ensure proper tracking and reporting of commitment balances, donor restrictions and ambulance liability schedule.
  • Backup domestic accounts payable specialist, maintaining a strong system of internal controls.
  • Work with development teams to ensure, event invoices are presented timely, complete and with accurate coding details.
  • Assist in preparation for audits and maintain accurate documentation to support audits.
  • Act as a point of contact for inquiries from vendors and internal staff regarding financial matters.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving accounting related issues or discrepancies.
  • Generate month-end reporting analysis as requested by program managers and stakeholders ensuring accurate results.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years’ accounting related experience with at least 2 years working directly with the general ledger.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of NetSuite or similar accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, word & excel.
  • Ability to work within a team structure as well as independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
