Job Title: Religious School Director

Location: Congregation KTI, Port Chester, NY

Position Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Religious School Hours: Tuesdays 4-6pm and Sundays 9:30-11:30am

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Religious School Director to lead our educational programs and nurture the growth and development of our students and families.

Position Overview:

The Religious School Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Congregation KTI Religious School. This position will work closely with the clergy, lay leadership, and families to ensure a positive and enriching educational experience for students, from kindergarten through post-B’nai mitzvah. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator with a deep commitment to Jewish learning and community. This is a great opportunity for an experienced teacher to advance his or her career. This also affords an opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic Jewish community as we reinvigorate our religious school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the Religious School, including curriculum development, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase Religious School enrollment and retention.
  • Supervise and support Religious School faculty, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement engaging educational programs that foster Jewish identity, values, and traditions for students of all ages.
  • Coordination of B’nai Mitzvah program with clergy to ensure successful preparation of students for this milestone.
  • Work closely with parents, families, and congregants to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Plan and execute holiday and community events, including family programs and services that may fall outside of school hours and including all major Jewish Holidays.
  • Manage the Religious School budget, including financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the congregation to integrate educational programs with community-building efforts.
  • Serve as a resource for families and provide ongoing communication about school activities, policies, and events.

Qualifications:

  • A strong background in Jewish education, preferably with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • A degree in Jewish Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, values, and practices, with an ability to communicate and teach these in a meaningful way.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, clergy, and lay leadership.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program planning.
  • Passion for fostering a love of Jewish learning and community engagement.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $40,000 - $45,000.
