About Us: Hebrew Academy Miami is a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school serving students from early childhood through 12th grade. We are committed to academic excellence, Jewish values, and fostering a love of learning in a nurturing and dynamic environment.

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable High School Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will engage students in the study of history, civics, geography, and economics, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. This teacher will inspire a passion for learning and help students connect historical themes to current events and Jewish values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in a variety of social studies subjects, including U.S. History, World History, Government, and Economics.
  • Incorporate critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of primary and secondary sources into the classroom.
  • Foster an understanding of historical contexts and their relevance to modern society.
  • Develop students’ skills in research, writing, and presentation.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through diverse evaluation methods.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary learning.
  • Promote a classroom environment that encourages respectful discourse, intellectual curiosity, and a love of learning.
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and department meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience teaching high school social studies, including advanced placement courses such as AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP U.S. History, and/or AP Government (preferred).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to connect with high school students.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices in social studies instruction.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or possess a valid work visa.
  • Commitment to fostering a love of learning and promoting Jewish values in the classroom.
