Position Summary: The Education Initiatives Manager is a full-time staff member who supports noncredit public educational projects and programs at Gratz College. In collaboration with other staff, the Education Initiatives Manager works with partners in the Jewish and non-Jewish communities to ensure Gratz fulfills its mission to advance education and applied Jewish wisdom.
Location: In-person and Remote, Philadelphia area
Responsibilities
Annual Youth Symposium on the Holocaust and Mordechai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the annual Youth Symposium on the Holocaust; the Mordechai Anielewicz Creative Arts Competition; and partnerships with school district student clubs
- Lead the pre-, during, and post engagement with partnership schools (Pennsylvania public schools as well as private schools) to enhance participation in the symposium and arts competition
- Coordinate directly with educators and schools to increase middle school and high school participation in programming
- Serve as liaison to program chair, Dr. Maureen Pelta, and panels of judges for the Arts Competition
- Operate as the coordinator and in-house docent for Gratz’s Dimensions in Testimony (DiT) Holocaust education exhibits (in 2 locations)
- Participate in Holocaust education programming and events, such as the Tuzman Holocaust Teach-In and Yom Hashoah events.
Fellowship for Emerging Leaders:
- Serve as lead administrator and partner liaison for Gratz’s Fellowship for Emerging Leaders.
- Oversee the application process and communication with both current and prospective fellows
- Support in the development and implementation of fellowship programming, including online or in-person seminars, workshops, and other events
- Coordinate internships for Fellows in their second year of participation
Jewish Education Programs at Gratz’s campus:
- Work as part of a team to roll out Gratz’s new campus on the Mainline and participate in the visioning process for programming at the new space
- Serve as a vital staff member for the growing number of Gratz’s public programs, such as its Pluralistic Beit Midrash
- Support with managing future programs at the new campus
- Collaborate with other staff members to develop and promote new educational initiatives and public programs
Qualifications & Competencies
- High-level organization and interpersonal skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset to increase Gratz’s partners in related projects
- Passion for education in support of Jewish and non-Jewish populations
- Strong background in Holocaust Studies
- At least 2 years of experience in program development
- Comfort with teaching and/or facilitating trainings
- BA or MA in a related field such as Education, Jewish Studies, or Holocaust Studies
