Job Description:
Sinai Temple is seeking a Director of our Beit Bracha program. The Directorship is a part-time position, amounting to 7-10 hours per week for 11 months. Beit Bracha is Sinai Temple’s religious school education program for children with special needs and/or learning differences. Beit Bracha students are mainstreamed in all religious school programs and synagogue community events. This position works closely with clergy and religious school staff to create an inclusive community at Sinai Temple. The Director spends the months of July and August planning and setting up the program and is available during weeks/hours of religious school (roughly 25 weeks through the year.)
Responsibilities:
*Meeting with prospective Beit Bracha students and families to discuss needs of student
*Pairing of student with appropriate chaver (aide) to enable student to thrive in the classroom and community experiences
*Supervises chaverim during Wednesday and Sunday religious school (available for questions and guidance during the roughly, 25 Sundays and Wednesdays during the year)
*Works with clergy on design and implementation of Beit Bracha 2.0 (a secondary track for students that have graduated religious school, grades 8th-12th)
*Creates social opportunities for Beit Bracha 2.0 and arranges supervision/staffing
*Consults with clergy 1-2 hours every other week
Qualifications/Skills:
*Strong background in working with children/adults with special needs and learning differences
*Access and connections to prospective aides to Beit Bracha students
*Strong background in the Jewish community
*Passion for the further development of an inclusive community at Sinai Temple
Compensation/Benefits:
*$50/hour
*Includes synagogue membership and two (2) High Holy Day tickets
