Funeral Services Representative

Mount Sinai, a Jewish non-profit, is a full-service mortuary and cemetery committed to honoring the lives of all those who enter our gates. For over 60 years, we have extended loving kindness to families during difficult times. 

We have approximately 125 mission-driven employees who are dedicated to the service we provide the community. We are nestled in the Hollywood Hills and our park has spectacular views of the surrounding area including several studios! (Just a little secret: It’s a great place to get your steps in!)

This job provides varied tasks where each day is its own – you will not be bored!  In this role you will be ensuring that our services go off without a hitch!  Think event planning or catering but without the food!  You will be handling everything from setting out flowers and prayer books, to setting up chairs for outside services and working with audio / visual equipment for presentations.  This is a physical job with lots of running around.

JOB DUTIES

• Prepares Chapels for Services
  • Maintaining service announcement board; vacuuming and dusting chapels; stocking supplies; placing flowers; displaying family pictures; assisting Funeral Director.
• Prepares Sites for Dedications and Funeral Services
  • Locating site; setting up support devices; ensuring site readiness.
• Prepares Vehicles for Services
  • Washing and cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles; ensuring vehicles are in full operational order.
• Manages Traffic and Crowd Control
  • Directing vehicles to parking; directing families and friends to service locations.
• Monitors Service
  • Completing service requests for music, special lighting, and recording of service.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Valid Driver’s License

Education:    High school diploma, AA or BA degree (desired)

Experience:   Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service, catering or waiting tables or any other fast-paced / physical position

Skills & Abilities:

• Able to manage an emotional experience in a calm, professional manner
• Able to manage multiple priorities
• Able to demonstrate superior customer service skills
• Able to demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills
• Able to operate funeral coach

Working Conditions:              

Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, reading, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. or more, weather (some of our services are held outdoors)
