Are you an energetic and dedicated leader with a passion for aquatics and youth development? Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake is seeking an organized and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Assistant Pool Director for our upcoming summer season.

Position Overview:
As the Assistant Pool Director, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, skill development, and overall enjoyment of our campers in and around the pool. Working closely with the Pool Director, you’ll help oversee swim programming, staff training, and daily operations to create a fun and safe aquatics environment for everyone.

Responsibilities:

  1. Pool Operations Support: Assist in the daily management of all pool-related activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards, proper pool maintenance, and program schedules.
  2. Swim Instruction: Support the Pool Director in coordinating and implementing swim instruction for campers of all ages and skill levels. Actively teach swim lessons, assess skills, and encourage growth in a positive, nurturing environment.
  3. Lifeguard Supervision: Provide leadership and guidance to the lifeguard team, ensuring a safe and vigilant atmosphere at all times. Assist with scheduling, training, and evaluating lifeguard performance.
  4. Safety & Compliance: Support pool safety protocols and procedures, ensuring adherence to camp policies and American Red Cross (or equivalent) standards. Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies as needed.
  5. Staff Training: Collaborate with the Pool Director to train and mentor aquatics staff during staff training week and throughout the summer.
  6. Engagement & Fun: Contribute to creating an engaging, welcoming, and dynamic aquatics environment. Support special pool events, games, and water-based programming for campers.

Qualifications:

  • Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent) required.
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a swim instructor, lifeguard, or aquatics staff member.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on teamwork.
  • Previous experience working with children, ideally in a camp or instructional setting.
