Join Hebrew at the Center at a pivotal moment of transformation as our new Director of Advocacy and Strategic Communications. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, this leadership role offers a unique opportunity to drive transformative change in Hebrew language education while amplifying the impact of our thriving organization. You will lead strategic campaigns to expand our market penetration to establish Hebrew at the Center as the industry standard in the 300+ North American Jewish Day Schools, while also managing comprehensive communications across our three core areas of work. As a key member of our Leadership team, you will develop innovative agency-wide marketing and communications strategies while staffing the Advocacy and Strategic Marketing Task Force of dedicated lay leaders committed to elevating Hebrew's place in Jewish education.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocacy

  • Context: Drive transformative strategic marketing and communications initiatives that fundamentally change how Hebrew is valued and resourced in the Jewish education ecosystem, including its professionals, its leadership, and its funders.
  • Critical Stakeholders: Work closely with the Advocacy Task Force to develop and implement strategies targeted to the Jewish day school market that leverages research, assessment, and the impact of professional learning on student outcomes to engage and activate parents, funders, and the broader Jewish community.
  • New Business Development: Develop and execute targeted marketing campaigns to school leaders that expand our earned revenue client base to capture at least 50% of North American Jewish Day Schools, positioning Hebrew at the Center as the central address for Hebrew in the mainstream market.

Strategic Communications

  • Collaborate with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to plan and oversee the implementation of the annual Marketing and Communications plan that aligns with the advocacy work across our three core focus areas: formal education, informal education, and Hebrew language advocacy.
  • Create compelling narratives and content that elevate Hebrew's importance in Jewish identity and education, highlight our innovative initiatives, and position Hebrew at the Center as the central address for Hebrew language education.
  • Manage all digital communications platforms including websites, social media, email campaigns, and virtual events to effectively reach diverse stakeholders.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of key publications, including the State of the Field of Hebrew Language Education Report, OpEds, newsletters, and other materials that strengthen our position as field leaders.
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, providing strategic advocacy guidance across the organization.

Core Requirements:

  • Experience developing and implementing strategic marketing and advocacy campaigns that have successfully penetrated mainstream markets beyond early adopters, preferably in educational settings.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities to effectively communicate Hebrew's vital role in Jewish identity, Israel connection, and cultural literacy to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple program areas and translate complex educational concepts into accessible messaging.
  • Familiarity with North American Jewish educational institutions and systems highly valued.
  • Commitment to Hebrew at the Center's mission and the Hebrew language as a foundational element of Jewish life.
  • English proficiency at the superior or distinguished level; Hebrew proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Successful history of working both independently and collaboratively; prior experience working with volunteer leadership preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with market research and data analysis to identify barriers and opportunities for market expansion.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools including content management systems, email platforms, and social media management.
  • Experience with CRM systems, digital analytics, and virtual presentation platforms.
  • Working knowledge of design software and video editing capabilities preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $110,000 - $115,000 plus benefits, salary commensurate with experience.

Work Environment & Start Date

  • Location: Remote, with occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Start Date: We are looking to fill this position by April 1, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
