The Synagogue Office Manager contributes integrally to the congregation’s success, supporting staff and lay leaders with membership and communications functions. Key responsibilities will include administration; office management; communication with members and facilitating their engagement; and assisting in coordinating events, religious services, and activities. The office manager will be one of the primary front-line contacts with the community and with other organizations. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team to further our mission.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist Office
- Be the “voice of the office” as the first point of contact when congregants or any other person calls.
- Manage, post & distribute Synagogue Calendar – (Public & Internal)
- Coordinate Events (auxiliaries & membership)
- Manage Membership Database
- Manage phone system
- Communicate effectively and personably with congregant and make sure their needs are met
- Work closely with Clergy and Lay Leadership on tasks deemed necessary by them
Publicity & Communication
- Email Announcements
- Printed Publications – Shabbat Bulletin, Flyers, Signage
Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to reinforce our warm, friendly, and comfortable environment
- Working knowledge of Judaic practices and rituals including familiarity with the Jewish calendar of celebrations and holidays a plus.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with congregants, staff and the public
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
- Knowledge of ShulCloud or other CRM software preferred
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Efficient and possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and provide attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
Terms and Benefits
- Hours: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm (2pm on Fridays)
- Annual Salary: $50,000
