Founded in 1997, Adat Chaverim is home to a diverse membership ranging from singles to young families to senior members of our Dallas/Fort Worth Community.  Our size provides an intimacy in worship and social activities.  Our goal is to grow our membership with the intent to offer a more extensive Jewish experience.  

 

Our religious school provides a complete Judaic education program for children including pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.  The Head of Religious School will act as a visionary and hands-on leader who can inspire and work with students, parents, and staff.  Other requirements include strong relationship-building skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and solid organizational and communication skills.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Jewish religious practice, history, and culture.
  • A bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in educational program administration at the elementary and/or secondary level.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew and Reform Judaism. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Hire school staff in collaboration with the Rabbi and Religious School Committee
  • Arrange for substitute teachers.
  • Oversee implementation of curricula and classroom management standards.
  • Prepare and manage an annual school budget with input from the Religious School Committee, the President and the Treasurer.
  • Plan and update the academic year calendar.
  • Provide regular communication to parents and members of the congregation regarding school-related activities and events.
  • Provide a Religious School report at monthly Board meetings.
  • Communicate and consult with the Rabbi on school-related matters.
  • Attend religious school-related Shabbat and holiday services.
  • Promote outreach, growth, and fundraising for the school.

 

At present, this is a part time position; 20-30 hours per week.  Our desire is for this position to become full time. As our school grows, the need for a full time Head of Religious School may be required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
