Description

The New Jersey Regional Manager is part of the Moving Traditions internal sales team. They are responsible for using sales strategies to engage new Moving Traditions partners (synagogues, JCCs, summer camps, etc. that use our programs to serve their adolescents and parents and whose educators and staff are supported by our staff) and for maintaining strong relationships with existing partners in Metrowest/Northern New Jersey. This position plays a key role in Moving Traditions’ goal of expanding our reach and impact to impact more Jewish adolescents, their parents and the educators and teen engagement staff who work with them. The ideal candidate for this position is an educator that has an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent communication skills and follow through, and a strong commitment to the Moving Traditions mission. A passion for public speaking and presentations is also essential as regional staff are called on to represent our national organization locally. 

This is a part-time, 20-hour per week, non-exempt staff position. While this is a fully remote position, the ideal candidate will be based in Metrowest/Northern New Jersey.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY

Moving Traditions has emboldened more than 40,000 Jewish youth and trained more than 2,650 adults to implement Moving Traditions B-Mitzvah Family Education Program and our Teen Groups: Rosh Hodesh for girls, Shevet for boys, and Tzelem for LGBTQ+ teens. Kulam is a series of plug-and-play curricular sessions designed for Jewish educators to use in Hebrew High Schools with students and TAs, and at camps with staff and CITs. Our Teen Trips and Fellowships include jGirls+ Magazine, the Meyer-Gottesman Kol Koleinu Teen Feminist Fellowship and Kumi: Foundation. CultureShift training is available for those working with Jewish youth at camp and elsewhere about navigating gender, healthy boundaries, and more. 

This year, Moving Traditions is projected to support more than 10,000 Jewish youth, in partnership with 200+ synagogues, day schools, camps, and other Jewish institutions across North America. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and build relationships with partner institutions in New Jersey, supporting the Mid-Atlantic region. This includes maintaining current partners, recruiting new partners and reengaging lapsed partners through networking, research and outreach; ensure that partners understand our educational goals and implement the programs with fidelity to our model.
  • Contribute to regional community of practice in Jewish youth professional and Jewish education networks.
  • Work with national staff to sustain and maintain relationships with area federations and foundations.
  • Ensure high quality programming by providing consultation and support to educators, including delivering or facilitating curriculum.
  • Support piloting and implementation of new programming.
  • Analyze local trends and follow local research on Jewish teen life, gender, and Jewish communal work to benefit local and national work, and leverage organization-wide learning and data to benefit work in region.
  • Represent Moving Traditions at regional conferences, workshops and networking venues.
  • Ensure that CRM is up to date, to track, report on, and manage development and program functions.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED

  • Embrace Moving Traditions’ mission
  • 3 years experience in Jewish communal service, education, or program planning
  • Strong interpersonal communications and relationship building skills; previous sales experience is a plus 
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with colleagues, at a fast pace
  • Ability to travel throughout the region to meet with program partners, and other constituents
  • Ability to occasionally attend and support Moving Traditions educational events, which can occur on Sundays or in the evenings
  • Sound judgment in setting, reviewing, and confirming priorities
  • Capacity to support projects, with excellent planning, problem solving, and follow-through
  • Strong attention to detail and investment in data quality
  • Knowledge of Jewish life and a strong Jewish network, especially in the region 
  • Experience with Salesforce or other data-tracking system a plus
  • Previous experience with Moving Traditions’ programs is a plus

COMPENSATION

Compensation at Moving Traditions is determined based on the salary band for the role and adjusted based on cost of living where the final candidate resides. The salary range for this part-time, 20-hour per week, non-exempt staff position is between $30K – $32K. Moving Traditions provides paid time off for vacation and sick leave, many Jewish holidays and major national holidays. Additionally, after a year of employment, employees are eligible for a 401K employer contribution.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The process for the hired applicant will include the following steps:

  • Submission of a Resume as well as a Cover Letter.
  • Applicants moved forward will have a phone screening with a member of Moving Traditions HR team.
  • Applicants that move forward from the screening interview will have a first-round interview with the Hiring Manager.
  • The final round interview will be with additional members of the Partnership team.
  • Three professional references will be requested at the end of the interview process.
