Job Title: Camp Coordinator
Location: Camp Gan Shalom, Capitol Hill 
Employment Type: Seasonal, Full-Time
Camp Dates: [June 23] – [August 15]

 

Camp Gan Shalom is seeking a passionate and dedicated Camp Coordinator for our 2025 Summer program. This program builds on Hill Havurah’s tradition of community engagement, providing an accessible, fun, and enriching environment for children to grow and connect.

Gan Shalom is an inclusive Jewish summer camp open to children ages 2 to 5. The 2025 summer camp program explores Jewish values through arts and crafts, music, outdoor activities, and community-building experiences. Though we emphasize Jewish values, we actively welcome children from all backgrounds.


The program runs from June 23 - August 15. Camp hours are 8:30am to 5pm. The Camp Coordinator will begin 2-3 weeks prior to the start of camp. The Camp Coordinator will report to the Financial Director.

The position earns an hourly rate of $26-28/hour depending on experience.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring all activities run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Coordinate logistics such as activity schedules, supplies, and meals.
  • Maintain the budget.
  • Maintain classroom websites.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement camp curriculum.
  • Provide weekly communication to parents regarding content for each week.
  • Maintain an environment that promotes learning and safety in the classroom, as well as respect for students, staff and the building.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance.
  • Serve as a positive role model, fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Provide adequate supervision and appropriate care for all children. 
  • Plan and initiate daily activities based on the assessed strengths, interests and needs of the children.
  • Discuss any difficult situations (e.g. behavior issues, etc.) involving students with the Financial Director. within one (1) day of any discussions with student(s)’ caregiver/parent(s).
  • Aside from normal weekly reports to the parents, inform the Financial Director of any communications with individual parents regarding progress of or concerns about their children. 
  • Meet regularly with the Financial Director, as scheduled by mutual agreement, but no less often than one (2) times per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching or leading educational programs, ideally in a Jewish or camp setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in managing schedules, logistics, and administrative tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, parents, and staff.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for working with children in a camp environment.
