POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for expanding and strengthening JAFCO’s fundraising efforts in Miami-Dade County. This role is crucial in growing JAFCO’s philanthropic reach, building relationships with donors, securing corporate sponsorships, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. Additionally, this person will support with stewarding existing Miami-Dade donors and chapter members. As part of a dedicated team supporting JAFCO’s $20 million annual budget, this position will play a vital role in engaging donors and advancing our mission to support children and families in need.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Donor Development & Solicitation: Identify, cultivate, and solicit potential donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations in Miami-Dade County to support JAFCO’s programs and initiatives.
  • Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for existing Miami-Dade donors, ensuring consistent communication, engagement, and stewardship.
  • Strategic Outreach: Partner with the Philanthropy Director to identify and engage new major gift prospects, coordinating tours, follow-ups, and targeted engagement strategies.
  • Community Engagement & Networking: Represent JAFCO at community events, networking forums, and philanthropic gatherings, particularly within Miami-Dade’s Jewish and Latin communities, fostering culturally aligned partnerships.
  • Fundraising Campaigns & Events: Develop, oversee, and execute fundraising events, parlor meetings, and donor engagement activities to generate support and awareness.
  • Gift Processing & Acknowledgment: Coordinate donor acknowledgments, pledge agreements, and payment reminders, ensuring timely and accurate donor stewardship.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate donor records in JAFCO’s database, track fundraising progress, and provide reports to leadership and the Board of Trustees.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with internal teams, volunteers, and board members to support fundraising goals and capital campaigns.
  • Other Responsibilities: Assist with major JAFCO events and perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

                     

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferred fields: Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or related discipline).
  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, and/or nonprofit development, with a proven track record in donor cultivation and major gift solicitation.
  • Experience in corporate sponsorships is highly preferred.
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to engage high-net-worth individuals, corporate sponsors, and community leaders.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish and/or Hebrew) preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal), including experience with donor correspondence and solicitation proposals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in donor database management and prospect research tools.
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility with work hours subject to office needs and demands of the position.
  • Ability to perform accurately and thoroughly with strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail in managing contracts and financial commitments.
  • Ability to follow and promote agency policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
  • Consistently display a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for donor events and community engagement.
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel locally for donor meetings and events.
