Executive Director for an Israeli Educational Non- Profit in New York City

Our client is the first organization to address Israel’s economic and social gaps through higher education.  They award university scholarships to capable young Israelis, and establish on-campus support systems to help them succeed.  Each year, hundreds of students who dared to not dream of a higher education became the first in their families to earn a degree.  They are looking for an Executive Director who will provide leadership, direction, management and oversight to achieve the mission and goals of the Foundation.

The Executive Director for the Non-Profit Foundation must have the following Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate experience in positions of increasing executive responsibility, in the Jewish philanthropic sector, and should be able to demonstrate impact as a change agent in prior posts
  • Significant experience in board development and in cultivating major donors, foundation, and corporate prospects.
  • Demonstrate track record of successful fundraising, grant writing, and resource mobilization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives to advance the organizations’ mission.
  • Outstanding people management skills, to elicit best work from staff and facilitate the work of the board to advance the organization’s mission.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development.
  • Knowledge of Israel and Hebrew would be helpful but not essential.
  • The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter who seeks the chance to have a major impact on an organization, and who relishes the challenge of transitioning a small “jewel” organization into its next growth phase.

The Executive Director for the Non-Profit Foundation will have the following Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Vision: Further develop and communicate a clear vision for organizations’ future growth and impact. Provide strategic leadership to staff, volunteers and all stakeholders.
  • Lead all fundraising activities and assist in board development and expanding the donor base. Identify and cultivate new prospects, whether individual, foundation, or corporate
  • Fiscal: Oversee organization budget; track donor income, organizational investments (including endowment); supervise progress of annual audit.
  • Organizational Management: Oversee all aspects of organizational operations, including budgeting, finance, marketing and program development. Oversee 5 part-time staff in New York, as well as outside consultants (PR, events, IT); ensure staff and systems are trained and updated to current NGO standards.
  • Maintain and continue to enhance open channels of communication with organization’s program office and board in Israel.
  • Program Development: Lead the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support the organization’s mission and liaising with students.
  • Oversee marketing of organization’s public image in support of increased visibility in the philanthropic community; and provide strategic oversight of gala, young leadership, and other donor events.
