POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dynamic Young Adult Programming Associate to create and implement engaging programs and community initiatives for young adults in Pittsburgh. This role offers a unique opportunity to build one-on-one relationships and strengthen partnerships with organizations serving the Jewish young adult community. The Associate will collaborate with the diverse YAD team, as well as the marketing, planning, and finance departments, and volunteer leadership.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is the central fundraising and community planning organization for the Pittsburgh Jewish community. We provide funding to local and overseas core partners and independent programs that provide education, security, health, and human welfare services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with the Young Adult Division staff and volunteer leaders to develop, plan, and execute programs that engage young adults and young families in the community.
- Cultivate a communal culture that ensures a sense of inclusion and belonging for everyone participating in Federation and Federation-affiliated programs and inspires them to support Federation philanthropically ensuring the longevity of our community. Collaborate with Director of Community Engagement and Collaboration to develop and implement a Young Adult Engagement strategy that aligns with the mission and vision of Federation.
- Work closely with the Director of Community Engagement and Collaboration, the Manager of Young Adult Philanthropy, and the Young Adult Division Development Coordinator to develop a cohesive annual calendar of programs and events, recruit for events and initiatives, and execute existing programs.
- Partner with departments across the organization to support philanthropic and leadership focused cohort experiences for Young Adults in the community.
- Work in partnership with the Federation marketing department to implement and maintain YAD’s online and social media presence as it relates to engagement, review content for YAD email newsletters, and implement marketing strategies that connect young adults to the community.
- Prioritize ongoing relationship building through one-on-one engagement.
- Play a central role in the planning of large-scale young adult community events in coordination key staff and volunteers.
- Attend communal events and represent the Federation as an ambassador for young adult engagement, connecting people to events and resources.
- Manage all aspects of a programmatic micro-grant making process including marketing micro-grant opportunities to partner organizations, collaborating with volunteers for grant approval, evaluating the efficacy of recipient programs, ensuring that all grant-making activities are executed effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Work closely with partner organizations to develop meaningful relationships that lead to lasting impact on the community.
- Stay up to date on relevant trends related to young adult engagement in the Jewish community.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required +1 -2 years work experience, preferably in a field relevant to the nonprofit space. Commensurate professional or volunteer experience will be considered.
- A history of success in community and individual engagement as a professional or volunteer.
- Grant-making and program planning experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May be required to lift 10-15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Local travel maybe required for Federation events.
- A valid PA Driver’s license must be maintained during employment.
COMPENSATION
This position has a competitive hiring range of $37,422 to $55,000 a year, commensurate with experience.
