The Teen Engagement Specialist / NFTY-STR Mentor is a shared full-time position between Temple Beth El in Boca Raton, FL, and the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). We anticipate that this role and responsibilities will be split 75%/25% on average between Temple Beth El and NFTY.
Temple Beth El of Boca Raton, FL is seeking an innovative and dynamic team player to be our Teen Engagement Specialist for our 6-12th grade program of 215+ students. This candidate should exude warmth, creativity, and a commitment to Jewish life through relationship and community building, engaging our teens with a high level of creative programming. In this role, the Teen Engagement Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing innovative programs and outreach strategies to engage, support, and empower our Teen Program while building connections between participants.
In addition, the Teen Engagement Specialist will develop and gather materials, and contribute to events and activities designed to expand and deepen the understanding of teens on Reform Jewish practice including Jewish values, rituals and customs. This is a highly creative position that also incorporates administrative, managerial, and supervisory responsibilities. The Teen Engagement Specialist works closely with the Director of Youth and Family Education and Engagement to envision, shape, and implement initiatives where necessary in the programmatic life of our congregation.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
· Ability to create and maintain authentic relationships with teens and adults
· Ability to engage parents and congregational leadership as partners in teen work
· Ability to bring new ideas and implement them
· Ability to utilize computer skills, software and work with databases; some experience preferred
· Ability to multi-task, meet pressing deadlines and anticipate needs
· Ability to work with teens and have experience in teen programming
· Ability to maintain confidentiality
· Excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills
· Excellent problem solving, and attention to detail
· Attends in-service training, when necessary
· Model appropriate conduct and values
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Degree in Jewish education, education and/or Judaic studies preferred and/or at least three years of related experience working with teens in a congregational and/or camp setting
· Comfortable with the Hebrew language and understanding of Jewish customs and values, and working in a Reform environment
· Knowledgeable of the Jewish calendar and customs
· Experience with NFTY or other Jewish youth movements preferred
· Child CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to acquire
This position is an Exempt, Full-Time (40 hour per week) plus weekend events – Days/Time are flexible. This position is primarily located on our west campus in Boca Raton, Florida at 9800 Yamato Road. Salary range is $58,000-$61,000 and is commensurate with relevant work experience. All candidates must pass a Level II background screening and a drug test in order to be considered for this position.
