2025 High Holiday Cantor/Cantorial Soloist

Naples Jewish Congregation (NJC) is a small (100 person) URJ-affiliated, adult congregation located in beautiful Naples in Southwest Florida.  NJC is known for its warm and welcoming embrace of all who enter its sanctuary.  We have a wonderful Rabbi, Howard Herman, an outstanding spiritual leader who exemplifies the essence of Reform Judaism.  We recently lost our much beloved Cantorial Soloist, Jane Galler, who magnificently led us in song for over 20 years.  NJC has never previously had to search for this position.  We also have a very accomplished Music Director, Alla Gorelik, who provides piano accompaniment and conducts our 8-person volunteer choir. 

            Due to the loss of Jane, we are seeking a cantor or cantorial soloist to provide the cantorial renditions for our Congregation High Holy Days.  The cantor or cantorial soloist will work with Alla and our choir to provide the musical offerings to our Congregation.  Typically, the cantor or cantorial soloist will sing alone on many songs, while some are sung with the choir.  Our High Holy Days services include Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur, Neilah and the Concluding service.  Also, rehearsal time a day prior to HHD services is required.

            NJC will pay $5,000 for a cantorial soloist or $8,000 for an ordained cantor, plus expenses to lead us in song for this year’s High Holy Days services.  We are certain that whoever decides to be with us this Fall will long remember the warmth our Congregation exudes and what a special place NJC in Naples is to spend the High Holy Days.
