This is a leadership position.

The role of Principal is focused on promoting and maintaining high student achievement by providing instructional leadership; maintaining overall school site educational operations; receiving, distributing, and communicating information to enforce school policies; maintaining a safe school environment; coordinating site activities; and communicating information to staff, students, parents, and community members.

Position Responsibilities – Principal

· Participate in the selection of personnel (e.g. certificated staff, support staff) for the purpose of recommending qualified candidates for employment.

· Delegate responsibility for various administrative functions to other personnel for the purpose of managing the school effectively and utilizing the talents of other staff members.

· Develop committees (e.g. curriculum, safety, special site committees) for the purpose of coordinating activities, promoting communication, and ensuring the outcomes of THA school objectives.

· Facilitate communication between personnel, students, and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and/or resolving conflicts.

· Foster an environment that encourages staff to be innovative with instructional strategies and collaborative with other staff for the purpose of meeting the needs of all students.

· Implement policies, procedures, and processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements.

· Manage school administrative functions (e.g., staffing, discipline, attendance) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations and following policies and procedures.

· Participate as a member of relevant leadership committees for the purpose of providing and receiving information and making decisions.

· Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

· Present information on various topics for the purpose of communication and gaining feedback from staff, students, parents and the community.

· Provide, coordinate, and evaluate staff development for the purpose of communicating information and strategies for improving instruction and school services.

· Recommend actions and/or procedures (e.g. personnel decisions, student discipline, equipment purchase) for the purpose of providing faculty and staff with information and/or data for making decisions.

· Represent the school in the community for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to the school environment.

· Serve as the instructional leader for the purpose of providing direction for staff and the best program for students.

· Serve as a member of the Communications Team along with the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of Development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Appropriate advanced educational qualifications and experience necessary to be successful in a leadership position.

· Minimum 3 years’ professional work experience in a similar position and demonstrated success in managing people and processes around K-8 instruction.

· Knowledge to work within a framework of policies, procedures, and State and Federal laws.

· Team player with demonstrated experience in successfully managing staff members.

· Understanding of private school educational dynamics.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.

· Strong work ethic, positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to perform tasks assigned.

· Background checks required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a school environment, utilizing both a classroom and an office setting depending on the work to be done. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit at a desk; type and use a computer; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to carry objects weighing 20 pounds or less from one location to another. Occasional travel by bus may be required when accompanying faculty and students on a field trip.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt position. This position may require extended hours and some weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
