Pressman Academy Is Seeking A New Middle School Counselor!
The Middle School Counselor is a full-time position on the Middle School faculty and is part of the Department of Wellness. The Middle School Counselor reports directly to the Director of Wellness and works collaboratively with the Middle School Assistant Principal, School Rabbi, Middle School Dean, Advisors, and in cooperation with the faculty.
A core principle of Pressman Academy is that we balance an academically rigorous curriculum with social, emotional, and spiritual learning.
The Middle School Counselor provides both individual and group counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. The counselor works closely with parents, offering guidance and referrals to outside support services as needed. Serving as the primary liaison for students receiving external social-emotional support, the counselor ensures clear communication between families, professionals, and the school. Additionally, the role includes maintaining accurate records of all counseling sessions and serving as a resource for the school community on socio-emotional issues.
Beyond counseling, responsibilities include teaching Life Skills classes, leading parent and parent-teen workshops, and developing professional development sessions for faculty. The counselor also consults with teachers on socio-emotional and developmental topics, contributing to a positive and supportive school culture.
This position offers a salary range from $75,000-$95,000 and a benefits package, including medical and retirement plans, as well as time off for most federal and Jewish holidays. The ideal candidate will have an MA and licensure in counseling, psychology, or social work, along with experience in classroom management. Experience with summer camps is preferred. Since middle schoolers are always on the move, the role requires physical mobility to actively engage with students and respond to their needs.
