Pressman Academy is seeking our next Director of Wellness.
The Director of Wellness at Pressman Academy has a unique opportunity to help shape a community while changing the lives of individual children and families. The DIrector of Wellness is responsible for supervising the Wellness Department, supporting Social Emotional wellbeing throughout the school, and creating school-wide programming related to health and wellness. As a member of the school Leadership Team, the Director of Wellness serves as a thought leader for a vital aspect of our school’s mission, overseeing our strategic and comprehensive whole school wellness program, which is preventative in nature and data driven, incorporating current best practices in the field of student wellness.
Who are we?
Parents, students and teachers call Pressman Academy their second home, and we are proud to be a school where relationships - between colleagues, with students, and in community - are at the core of what we do and who we are. Our top-notch academic program is matched only by the ruah and Jewish values that permeate every crevice of our building. We invest equally in children’s social/emotional development and academic development, which is one of the reasons we are known for being a school that graduates mensches.
Who are you?
You are an experienced educator and mental health professional who understands best practices in social emotional education, and you use this knowledge to envision and implement innovative programs, curriculum and professional development. You are equally comfortable teaching a second grade class on kindness as you are in a conversation with an adult who needs support with parenting as you are in supervising the wellness team. You think deeply about children, their wellbeing, and the factors that contribute to raising healthy adults, and you collaborate actively with members of the school’s Leadership Team, Learning Support, Athletics, and Judaic Studies staff to support this goal. You’re not afraid to voice your opinion - and you definitely have opinions! - but you always do so in a way that invites conversation while listening deeply to opinions different from yours. You know how to communicate clearly and effectively, and you do so in ways that champion the mission and vision of Pressman Academy. And finally, you are someone who is looking for a professional community in which to invest your time and your talents.
