POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Position Title: Interim Religious Education Administrator 

Employment Status: Part-Time (up to 20 hours per week), Non-Exempt, Temporary 

Compensation: $22-26/hr 

Reports to: Executive Director with support from Rabbi 

 

GENERAL OVERVIEW: 

The Interim Religious Education Administrator ensures smooth operations for our Sunday and Wednesday Religious Education Program: 

 

General Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform daily walk-through to assure that physical plant is in good order and ready for school. This will include all classrooms, the Art Room, the Children’s Library, and setups requested for services and special programs.  
  • Order books, supplies, and food as needed. Pick these items up when they cannot be delivered.  
  • Organize and maintain the Art/Supply Room. 
  • Set up snack for each class on Sundays and for students as they arrive on Wednesdays. 

Vis a Vis Teachers:  

  • Ensure teachers have necessary materials, up-to-date attendance sheets and student profiles, and other supplies, all of which live in the faculty boxes.  
  • Maintain ongoing communication with teachers regarding schedule, student attendance, performance of madrichol, supplies, etc.  
  • Oversee the use of bulletin boards to assure that they are neat, attractive and timely.  
  • Assist substitute teachers in getting set up for the day.  
  • Ensure madrichol are supporting teachers and supervise clerical tasks of office madrichol.  

Vis a Vis Students: 

  • Assist with special events such as holiday celebrations, etc.  
  • Organize and supervise Children’s High Holy Day and other Holiday Activities.  
  • Help supervise arrival and dismissal and remain until the last student is picked up. 

Vis a Vis Parents: 

  • Prepare the school weekly email.  
  • Communicate with parents regarding student absences, special events, schedule changes, classroom updates, etc. 
  • Be available to greet parents and answer questions. 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: 

  • Reports to Executive Director 
  • Regular interface with Rabbi 
  • Supports Youth Advisor, Religious School faculty, and Madrichol 
  • Represents Temple Beth El within both the Jewish and general community

Acts as a model to staff; guides and empowers staff to engage in practices and build relationships with children, parents and congregants that support welcoming, excellent service and education, and meaningful, positive interactions. 

 

This is a non-exempt, part-time, temporary position. Nights and weekends, routinely Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, plus others intermittently, will be required. Other duties may be assigned and duties may change from time to time.
