POSITION TITLE:                              Teen Travel Program Manager

FLSA STATUS:                                    Exempt

REPORTS TO:                                     Chief Operating Officer

DEPARTMENT:                                  Operations

 

BACKGROUND

The Jewish Federation of San Diego County (JFSD) is looking for a Teen Travel Program Manager, who will bring creative programming and immersive travel experiences for teens in San Diego County annually. The Teen Travel Program Manager will manage staff, volunteers, and program leaders, and will help to create a shared community for the participants over many years.

JOB SUMMARY

The Teen Travel Program Manager will be responsible for planning and executing an annual community teen trip to Israel, starting in the summer of 2025. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the trip logistics, managing registrations, building and training the trip staff, working closely with our on-the-ground travel agency, marketing and promoting the trip, providing pre-trip education to prepare participants, and engaging alumni post-trip. The Teen Travel Program Manager will be a key member of the Immersive Travel Team and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Trip Planning and Logistics:
    • Develop a comprehensive trip plan, including itinerary, accommodations, transportation, and activities.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure seamless logistics.
    • Ensure all travel arrangements meet safety and quality standards.
  • Registration Management:
    • Oversee the registration process, ensuring all participants are properly registered and all required documentation is collected.
    • Maintain accurate records of participants and manage communication with them and their families.
  • Staff Recruitment and Training:
    • Recruit and select qualified trip staff, including chaperones and program leaders.
    • Develop and implement a training program to prepare staff for their roles and responsibilities during the trip.
  • Collaboration with Travel Agency:
    • Work closely with our on-the-ground travel agency to coordinate trip details and ensure a smooth and immersive experience for participants.
    • Regularly communicate with the travel agency to address any issues or changes in plans.
  • Marketing and Promotion:
    • Develop and execute a marketing plan to promote the trip to potential participants and their families.
    • Create promotional materials and leverage social media, community events, and other channels to raise awareness.
  • Pre-Trip Education:
    • Design and deliver educational sessions to prepare participants for their journey, including cultural, historical, and logistical information.
    • Facilitate team-building activities and orientation meetings.
  • Post-Trip Alumni Engagement:
    • Develop and implement a plan to engage trip alumni and their families post-trip.
    • Organize reunions, follow-up activities, and opportunities for continued involvement in the community.
  • Will be assigned other programmatic teen projects as needed

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, event planning, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing travel programs, preferably for teens, with experience in group international travel.
  • Marketing experience: marketing plans to include social media and community events
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Israeli culture and Jewish history is a plus.
  • Fluency in Hebrew preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media tools and other relevant software.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in business, Judaic Studies or related field.

This position is required to work onsite (with the ability to work from home on most Fridays).

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position, working onsite in San Diego, CA, with the ability to work from home on most Fridays.

 

Compensation range: $70,000 – 85,000 per year, with a generous benefits plan, retirement plan and comprehensive paid sick leave, vacation and 22 paid holidays per year.
