Who we are:

Woodbury Jewish Center (WJC) Is a 35-year-old Egalitarian Conservative congregation with more than 500 members and 350 students enrolled in our Early Childhood and Religious School programs. Over the last five years, our membership has grown by nearly 35%, expanding in every demographic. We are situated in a hub of Jewish life on the north shore of Long Island. WJC seeks a dynamic Youth & Family Education Director to partner with our passionate & energetic rabbi and lay leaders to continue this growth and maintain the individual sense of belonging, purpose, and connection that drive our membership.

We seek an experienced director to start Summer 2025 

Requirements:

  • Higher level education degree or commensurate
  • Experience managing education staff and strong leadership skills
  • Experience developing curriculum, programming, and academic calendar
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) who can effectively interact with clergy, lay leaders, teachers and congregants
  • Religious School oversight – manage teachers, develop curriculum and programming, interact with parents
  • Organize and oversee family Shabbat services and family High Holiday services & programming
  • Support Early Childhood Director and integrate preschool families into the congregation with special programming
  • Staffing
  • Oversee student evaluations

Preferred skills:

  • Ability to read Hebrew
  • Adaptability to students with different learning styles

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year

Schedule:Flexible

  • Sept - May: Sunday Mornings and Wednesday afternoons/evenings required
  • Some weekends and some Jewish Holidays and Programs as needed
  • Remaining schedule is flexible with set weekly in office hours

Education: 

  • Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

  • supervising staff: 2 years (Required)
