The Lead Parent & Child Class Instructor is responsible for leading classes that introduce families to the school and provide structured socialization for children, including infants and toddlers, in a safe environment. This role involves creating and implementing a dynamic curriculum focused on early childhood development through arts and crafts, sensory activities, music, and play. Additionally, the class serves as a valuable resource for participants, particularly new first-time parents, offering guidance and support in their parenting journey.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or a related field preferred.
  • Experience leading Parent & Child classes or working with young children, especially infants and toddlers, in a similar setting.
  • CPR & First Aid certification required within the first 60 days of employment
  • Florida Department of Children and Families, Child Care Facility Training must be initiated within the first 90 days
  • Stellar communication skills with the ability to relate to both children and adults.
  • Strong organization and time management skills 
  • Proficient in using a computer and able to learn new software as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of all basic office equipment required 
  • Friendly, approachable, and open-minded with a can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to learn not just about the job but also about the culture of the environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, and pull with or without accommodations.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to sit on the floor for long periods and stand up unassisted.
  • Respectful and non-judgmental toward all participants
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with a multicultural client/customer population
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Lead Parent & Child classes, ensuring an engaging and supportive environment for both children and grown-up attendees.
  • Foster a supportive community where parents can share experiences, ask questions, and build connections with each other
  • Develop and implement a creative curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of infants and toddlers that encourage parent child interaction.
  • Design and execute innovative art projects, themed sensory bins, and interactive music sessions.
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of the classes, including project activities and the structured flow of each session.
  • Guide and serve as a resource for parents and grown-up attendees, providing support and information relevant to early childhood development.
  • Foster the social, emotional, and physical growth of the children, while ensuring that all activities are inclusive and respectful of diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians, ensuring they are informed and involved.
  • Manage class materials, including ordering supplies and ensuring toys and equipment are sanitized and well-maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance, participant feedback, and any incidents or concerns
  • Change diapers and attend to the immediate needs of the children as required during the class.
  • Prepare the classroom before each session and clean up after, ensuring a safe and inviting environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
