Job Title: Hebrew School Teacher - Kindergarten and First Grade

Location: Temple Israel: 66 Salmon Street, Manchester, NH

Job Type: Part-Time

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Hebrew School Teacher to join our team, specializing in teaching kindergarten and first-grade students. The ideal candidate will have a love for working with young children and a background in Hebrew and Jewish traditions. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to engage young learners in a dynamic and nurturing educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Hebrew curriculum for kindergarten and first-grade students.
  • Teach basic Hebrew skills, including letter recognition skills through interactive activities.
  • Introduce students to Jewish traditions, holidays, prayers, and values in a fun and accessible manner.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning and respect for Jewish heritage.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive educational experience.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in education, Jewish Studies, Hebrew Language, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience teaching young children, preferably in a Hebrew school or similar setting.
  • Basic knowledge Hebrew language and knowledge of Jewish traditions.
  • Classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the students and the school.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position, typically requiring approximately 2 hours and 45 mins teaching time plus preparation time
  • Requires Sunday mornings
