Seeking Passionate and Creative Youth Group Advisor (Grades 6-12)

About Beth Am’s Youth Groups: Beth Am is a Conservative Synagogue located in the Reservoir Hill Neighborhood of Baltimore. We are committed to seeking Jewish responses to life’s biggest questions, fostering a sacred community in Reservoir Hill, and pursuing Justice in Baltimore and beyond.

Beth Am is committed to offering educational, social, and community-building opportunities for all of our children. Beth Am Youth groups are an essential way our children  build lasting relationships with each other, experience dynamic Jewish living, and have fun together in the context of our wider Beth Am community. Our youth live in many different neighborhoods, and attend a variety of schools, so the youth group plays a very important role in gathering everyone together. Our USYers ( 8th-12th grade) also take important leadership roles in our synagogue life, and have the opportunity to attend Regional and International USY programs.

The Position: We are currently seeking a passionate, creative, and enthusiastic Youth Group Advisor to help facilitate and expand our programming for our Kadima (6th/7th grade) and Pre-Kadima (2nd-5th grade) chapters. Each group will meet approximately once a month, either at Beth Am Synagogue or at other locations. The Youth Group Advisor will help plan programming in conjunction with the Director of Youth and Family Education and advertise programming to our member families. Programs should be age appropriate and geared toward the interests of our students. Events connected to Jewish Holidays, Israel, and social justice advocacy will also be very welcome.

The advisor will also help find opportunities for teens and tweens to take leadership roles in youth group programming.

A successful candidate will have experience working with teens, enjoy coming up with creative ideas for youth programs, and be a responsible communicator with participants, parents and staff. Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on the number of events the advisor coordinates. Event dates and times can be flexible, based on availability of the youth group advisor.

More hours could be added to this position based on the advisor's availability and interest.
