JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Development Director will play a key role in advancing the fundraising efforts for Addlestone Hebrew Academy, the Lowcountry’s only Jewish Day School. As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, this individual will have a passion and love for what our school community offers. They will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring the sustainability and growth of philanthropy at our school. 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Serve as an integral part of the leadership team, playing an active, visible role alongside the Head of School and Associate Development Director. 
  • Together with the Head of School, Board, and Associate Development Director, develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the goals and mission of Addlestone Hebrew Academy. 
  • Develop strategies to expand, enhance and cultivate the current donor base to include corporate partnerships, alumni giving and grants. 
  • Partner with the Board to plan and support relevant committee meetings and lead fundraising activities, marketing, special events, and alumni engagement. 

EVENT PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage and execute four major fundraising events each year. 
  • Oversee the event planner, who will spearhead the logistics of the fundraising event(s). 
  • Create sponsorship levels and other giving opportunities to support a culture of giving and the rededication of our campus. 
  • Create meaningful opportunities to continue to build and strengthen our existing endowment efforts. 
  • Collaborate with various lay leaders and committees to plan large and small local events to engage and thank donors throughout the year. 

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure the maintenance of our donor database and accurate donor records, donor communication, and other related areas. 
  • Generate pledge reminders, thank you notes, and all needed reports for donors, committees, foundations, etc. Provide regular reports on fundraising activities to the Board and professional staff, in coordination with the Fundraising Committee and the Head of School. 
  • Write, edit and/or submit grant proposals and reports, as needed. 
  • Write and prepare materials needed for development-related communications, including newsletters, e-mails, appeals, campaign materials, and the school website.

 

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identify potential donors, and develop strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship across all individuals, organizations, and foundations. Discover new opportunities for partnership and support in all of these areas. 
  • Manage the planning, organization, and implementation of fundraising activities, including annual giving and capital campaigns, meetings, stakeholder events, direct mail, cultivation visits, solicitation visits, etc. 
  • Create an alumni giving program, “Shorashim”, that engages, supports, and creates ongoing value for our graduates. 
  • Manage the stewardship and solicitation of all current major gift donors and prospects. ? Oversee all prospect research to ensure new donors are identified and existing donors are appropriately stewarded. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing to ensure marketing materials meet marketing guidelines and effectively highlight our school’s values and mission. 

NECESSARY SKILLS 

  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, an entrepreneurial, creative mindset and a passion for the mission and values of Addlestone Hebrew Academy. ? Experience in fundraising with a proven ability to secure major gifts. 
  • Skilled in relationship development with donors, lay leaders, clergy and colleagues with a strong ability to build a culture of philanthropy. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with a CRM database. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic in project and event management. 
  • Will be able to prioritize workload and meeting deadlines with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills with the knowledge to use these across all mediums.
