Religious School Teacher

Congregation Kol Haverim in Glastonbury, CT is a reform synagogue, seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals to teach the next generation of Jewish learners and explorers!

Qualified candidates should have:

• experience in education, or experience working with children ages 4 to 13
• some knowledge of Hebrew, prayers, and Jewish customs and values
• knowledge of student engagement and behavior management skills
• strong communication skills
• imagination and open to experimentation

Specific weekly job duties include:

• collaboration with Education Director, other lead teachers and clergy
• classroom instruction of holidays, prayers, ethics/Mitzvot, Jewish identity, Israel

The ideal candidate is a responsible, engaging, and enthusiastic educator who can plan and provide instruction and activities to students of all levels based on grade level curriculum. The religious school meets weekly on Wednesdays, 4-6pm, and Sundays 9-11am, with the exception of certain holidays.

Our current openings:

• Pre-K (Sundays only, twice a month)
• 5th/6th grade (Sundays only)
• 7th grade (Wednesdays only)

Are you a retired teacher? Have you always wanted to teach? Do you have a unique experience, hobby, or passion you want to share?  We are also seeking individuals with special interests or hobbies that would like to develop a 6-week elective program for religious school students in 3rd-7th grade.  It should be fun, engaging, and support Jewish values (i.e. art, theater, cinema, dance, games, etc.).
