About the Role: Congregation Sukkat Shalom is seeking a full-time Communications and Administrative Manager to join our dynamic team. This role serves as the warm and welcoming face of Sukkat Shalom and the main administrative hub to connect all programs and departments, with a focus on facilitating synagogue communications and supporting day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and project management skills, keen eye for design, proficiency in technology, and familiarity with Jewish traditions and terminology. Most importantly, they should be collaborative and passionate about contributing to a thriving Jewish community.
About You:
- You have 1-3 years of experience in an office environment or the nonprofit and/or Jewish professional world; internship experience included.
- You are enthusiastic about being part of a highly functioning and busy team, while being able to operate independently.
- You have experience and comfort with social media and graphic design and have knowledge of or can learn Canva, Squarespace, CRM (in our case, Shulcloud), and other digital platforms.
- You possess the organizational and computer skills required to effectively engage with fellow staff, congregants, and vendors using various modes of communication.
- You can manage various tasks simultaneously.
- You are adept at interacting with a variety of stakeholders and using discretion as appropriate.
- You are passionate about building relationships and engaging community.
What You Will Do:
Office Support:
- Serve as a first point of contact, both on the phone and in person, with whom congregants and community members interact.
- Provide day-to-day office administrative support, including copying, typing, emailing, and purchasing.
- Create and maintain registration forms, manage internal calendars, and oversee the membership database.
- Provide coverage for the Executive Director when needed.
Communications:
- Oversee all communications to the Sukkat Shalom community and beyond through the use of weekly emails, print publications, and event fliers.
- Use Canva to design marketing and promotional materials.
- Craft and maintain an active social media presence on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Regularly review and update the Sukkat Shalom website.
- Design the annual High Holy Days booklet.
Programming:
- Work with the clergy, professional staff, and lay leaders on providing administrative support for programming such as creating Zoom links, ordering supplies, and occasionally providing onsite staff support during congregational programs.
- Assist with event paperwork preparation for building staff.
Clergy and Board of Directors Support:
- Support the senior rabbi with calendar management, booking appointments, and preparing support documents.
- Liaise with clergy, board of directors, lay leaders, and committees.
- Maintain the Yahrzeit list in the synagogue's database, provide weekly lists for Shabbat services, and send monthly Yahrzeit notices to congregants.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required; duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed to meet the congregation’s needs.
This is an in-person position that reports to the Executive Director. We expect working hours to be Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm with some evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation: $55,000-65,000
