Ramah Berkshires is seeking a summer Mashigach to oversee Kashrut across Camp. Additionally, this position will serve as Rosh Chadar Ochel and in partnership with the food service team, oversee smooth operations and meal service for our summer community of over 700 people.

Dates:
Pre-Season: May 19th-June 9th
Camp Season: June 9th-August 15th
Post-Season: August 15th - Sept 14th
(Accommodations may be made for qualified candidates who are not available until June 8th and/or
after August 15th)
Compensation:
Full Room and Board Available while in residence at Camp
$4000-$5000 for the Camp Season with additional salary for pre and post season work
Tuition Discount Available for Campers enrolled in Camp
Responsibilities:
Kosher Supervision:
- The Mashgiach is ultimately responsible for ensuring that Camp, including all kitchens and all members of the staff, are meeting standards for Kashrut
- Inspect deliveries and ensure that food products purchased by and delivered to camp are kosher
- Supervise food preparation and procedures to ensure that Kashrut is maintained
- Collaborate with the food service staff to assure that the rules of Kashrut are maintained throughout Camp.
- Communicate with Camp Directors and Food Services Manager on all issues involving Kashrut
- Establish the eruv at the start of the summer and inspect the eruv on a weekly basis throughout the summer
Chadar Ochel/Dining Hall:
- Assist in ensuring smooth operations for front of the house in the Dining Hall
- Provide supervision and direction at meal buffet lines
- Answer questions regarding special diets and pack-out meals
- Work in partnership with food service manager, kitchen staff, and programmatic staff to maintain timeliness of food service and meals
- Collaborate with Program Manager on meal seatings, special events, and schedule changes
- Develop systems and procedures to assure that there are appropriate blessings recited and Hebrew utilized at meals.
- Play a key role in staff snack, B-side snack, and special meals such as visiting day buffet, Leil Steikim, and Cafe Ramah
General Camp Leadership:
- Be an engaged member of the greater camp community
- Actively participate in camp events and Jewish life at camp, leading educational sessions and tefillah as comfortable and schedule permits
- Undertake other tasks as needed (such as driving, set up, or leading a group activity) as a member of the camp community
Qualities and Experience:
- Knowledge of the laws of Kashrut in a Conservative Context
- Experience and familiarity with Jewish overnight camps, preferred
- Excellent communication and teamwork to foster working effectively with other staff from around the world
- Ability to work long hours while being on your feet for extended periods of time
