Temple Beth Shalom of Melrose is looking for teachers for their K – 6th grade Sunday School Program. Students meet Sundays from 10 am – 12 pm. If you’re are passionate about teaching students and celebrating Judaism, then we’re interested in you in speaking with you.
Grades Needed:
Co-teacher for 4/5/6 grade class (12 students expected)
Lead teacher for 3rd grade (10 students expected)
Lead teacher for 2nd grade (10 students expected)
Hebrew tutor (in person)- to be scheduled, (approximately 8 hours a week)
In these position you will be responsible for a range of duties including developing lesson plans, preparing and cleaning up your room, notifying staff of issues and student needs, and emailing parents each month with an update.
About our Classes:
We begin the day with Tefilah and teachers then focus on Torah, Jewish history, Holidays, and more. There is Additional programming beginning in the 3rd grade which includes:
Each year has a Shabbaton from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
5 Friday afternoons students gather at TBS from 3:30-6PM for dinner and a program. They are then invited to stay for family Shabbat at 6PM and help lead the service.
Each student also attends private Hebrew tutoring for 20 minutes each week. This will be offered in person unless zoom is requested.
There are Additional hours for Friday’s and Shabbaton which will be determined as needed
Compensation:
Sunday school salary: $40/hr
Tutor salary: $30/hr
Additional hours for Friday afternoon programs $30
Shabbaton compensation tbd
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age
Must have transportation to and from work
Must be authorized to work in the US
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work with children in a class room is preferred
