The Orthodox Union's Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (OU-JLIC) places rabbinic couples on college campuses to provide Orthodox Jewish students with Torah education and mentorship, helping them continue their spiritual growth into adulthood. OU-JLIC offers a range of programs, including learning sessions, Shabbat experiences, and social events, fostering a strong sense of community and spiritual growth. Additionally, OU-JLIC extends its support to Israel, offering summer and year-round programs that combine Torah study with professional opportunities. 
 
The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.
 
Position Overview:
 
As an Entry-Level Accounting and Operations Associate, you will play a key role in
supporting the accounting and logistics operations for multiple programs within JLIC. You will assist with budgeting, reimbursements, travel logistics, and program-related financial tasks across a variety of initiatives, including college fellowships, national events, Israel trips, and summer programs.
 
This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in accounting, financial

Key Responsibilities:
 
1. Accounting and Financial Support:
  • Assist with processing invoices, reimbursements, and other financial transactions related to JLIC programs.
  • Help track and monitor program expenses and budgets, ensuring alignment with financial projections.
  • Work closely with program directors to ensure all financial documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Process reimbursements for program expenses (e.g., travel, accommodations, supplies) for staff, fellows, and participants.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reimbursement submissions and follow up on any discrepancies.Collect all relevant documentation to issue stipend payments.
  • Gather all receipts, documentation, and any other required materials for the monthly Concur reports. 
2. Logistics Support:
  • Provide logistical support for several JLIC programs, including Yavneh (college student fellows program), Yavneh Young Professionals, Summer Programs, Israel Volunteering Trips, and Professional Training Fellowship programs.
  • Assist with managing travel arrangements, accommodation bookings, and transportation for participants and staff.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure smooth program execution.
3. Program Financial Administration:
  • Assist in tracking program costs, preparing reports on expenditures, and supporting budget planning for large events, Shabbatonim, and trips.
  • Help ensure accurate documentation of all program-related financial transactions.
4. Collaborative Teamwork:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide necessary support for various programs.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries for leadership and program managers.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the efficient execution of departmental goals.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience: Prior experience in an administrative or accounting role is preferred but not required. Internships or coursework in accounting/finance are a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Suite.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teams across different departments.
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is between $45,000 and $55,000, commensurate with experience.
