Bay Area Friendship Circle www.BayAreaFC.org is a local nonprofit organization in Palo Alto, CA that pairs trained teen volunteers to work with children, teens and young adults with special needs for our ongoing programs. We are seeking a charismatic, well-organized and detail oriented Volunteer Coordinator to recruit new teen volunteers, coordinate volunteer programming, communicate regularly with our volunteers and assist with Friendship Circle programs. This role is part-time, approximately 10 hours a week (two Sundays a month and flexible schedule during the week), with the option to increase to 20 hours depending on experience/availability.
Responsibilities:
-Recruit new teen volunteers and communicate with current teen volunteers on a consistent basis, as well as their parents, as needed.
-Manage volunteer RSVP's to programs via text, email, or other social media platform.
-Plan, coordinate and execute volunteer-only events and activities.
-Prepare and debrief with teen volunteers before and after programs (icebreakers, socializing games, etc).
-Support and empower teens throughout the program to maximize their time and relationship with their special needs buddies
-Work with Executive Director to provide Jewish programs for the teen volunteers.
-Work with Program Director to deliver presentations and create relationships with local youth groups and schools to promote volunteering
-Manage the volunteer Leadership Circle meetings and activities
Qualifications:
-Must be able to work on Sundays twice a month Oct-May (flexible schedule is allowed during the week)
-Well organized, great communicator and social media experience a plus (Facebook/Instagram)
