Director of School Services

The Position

Hidden Sparks is looking for a strong and personable professional, based in the greater NY area, to join our senior leadership team in a top educational program with national and international presence. This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to grow existing programs, innovate, and collaborate with a team of exceptional educators. We are seeking a professional to oversee our school services division, programs and partnerships in Jewish day schools and yeshivas throughout North America. This is a hybrid position, based in New York.

The Organization

Hidden Sparks is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help educators and schools nurture the Hidden Spark within each student. We do this by developing and facilitating professional development programs and coaching for Jewish day school educators to deepen understanding of learning and approaches for teaching all kinds of learners, particularly those who struggle. By working with educators and coaching internal school leaders, we are committed to increasing the capacity of Jewish day schools to address the varied needs of learners so that all students thrive. Launched in 2006,  the mission is to support children with learning and behavioral differences in Jewish day schools. Designed as a professional development and mentoring model, Hidden Sparks’ innovative curriculum helps teachers enhance their understanding of students and their skill set by engaging teachers in looking at student’s learning and behavior through neuro-development, temperament and classroom ecology.  Hidden Sparks began as a pilot in 7 schools in 2006. 401 yeshiva/ day schools have participated in our workshops and training programs.

The Candidate

The candidate we are seeking is a professional who has experience in a relevant field such as education, social work or psychology and experience with Jewish communal non-profit organizations or a strong understanding of working with Jewish institutions and communities.  Ideally the candidate has an educational background and is familiar with Jewish day schools/yeshivas.

The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills for a portfolio which involves interfacing with school leaders, strong organizational skills and experience in program management, with the ability to manage several projects at a time successfully. While this has been a flexible part time position, the position can be expanded to include a greater educational role and to a full time position. The candidate should be comfortable with school recruitment on a national stage. They should possess excellent written and verbal skills and they should be comfortable with software systems such as Salesforce, Wordpress or a willingness to learn to use them.

An advanced degree in education or a related field is preferred.

Interested candidates should please send a resume, together with a cover letter and references to [email protected]
