Communications Coordinator / Office Administrator

Full time position: Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30, Friday 8:30-1:30, all Jewish holidays off plus paid vacation.
Communications Responsibilities:
• Prepare & distribute weekly newsletter, referencing community announcements
• Update and maintain website content ensuring information is accurate, current and user
friendly.
• Manage Shul’s email & Zoom account
• Maintain photo database of shul events and programs for use in future communication
• Serve as liaison to graphic designer for various Shul graphic design needs
• Communication with members, interacting in a flexible and compassionate way,
including synagogue members, board of directors, potential members, etc.
• Create and distribute all mass emails, including upcoming holiday & event
announcements, funeral notices and targeted emails for specific email lists.
Office Administrator Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day operations which include but are not limited to:
• Work with Shul bookkeeper to ensure pledge payments are being made
• Prepare all member correspondence
• Monitor phone and Shul’s email account
• Manage various campaign initiatives throughout the year
• Coordinate volunteers when needed
• Organize logistics for annual Shul Benefit
Position Requirements and Skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and work with tight deadlines.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Constant Contact, Canva, Google
Docs, etc.
• Experience creating graphics and design layout (through Canva, Constant Contact or
other programs) preferred.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills, high level of personal and professional integrity.
• Natural curiosity in learning new software programs, processes and systems, embracing
a ‘can do’ attitude.
• Familiarity with Shul database application Shulcloud is a plus.
• Familiarity with Jewish lifecycle and an appreciation for the importance of a synagogue
in a Jewish Community is a plus.
