ASSISTANT MANAGER, RETREAT OPERATIONS & REGISTRATION 

Location: Hybrid (Remote and onsite at URJ Eisner Camp for retreat weekends throughout the school year) 

Organization: Union for Reform Judaism 

Employment Type: Full Time, Benefits Eligible  

Department: Camps & Immersives – Eisner Camp 

Reporting to: Business Manager 

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 plus competitive benefits package 

Level/Salary Grade: Subject Matter Expert (Intermediate)/A  

THE ROLE 

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Eisner Camp seeks an Assistant Manager of retreat operations and camper registration to help create vibrant summer camp and year-round youth and family engagement experiences for people from a wide range of backgrounds (people of color, persons with disabilities, individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, and other underrepresented identities). Our staff are key stakeholders and are essential in creating communities of belonging and delivering transformative and welcoming experiences throughout the summer and school year. While the Assistant Manager’s portfolio supports the year-round business operations of Eisner Retreat Center and oversees the camper registration and payment processes, they are also part of the year-round camp team.   

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

The Assistant Manager, Retreat Operations & Registration reports to Business Manager and is responsible for the following: 

RETREAT CENTER OPERATIONS 

  • In partnership with camp leadership drive growth for Eisner’s year-round rental business. Help to identify and cultivate potential rental groups by effectively and efficiently developing proposals, giving site/facility tours, and responding to questions and inquiries. 

  • Manage logistics, business operations, year-round bookings, and calendar of events for Eisner Retreat Center including but not limited to all planning paperwork, contracts and payments, accounts receivable, housing and space allocation, AV and equipment support, ordering supplies and furniture, and other event preparations.  

  • Serve as the point of contact for all off-season events, guests, and weekend/event staff as well as the onsite logistics coordinator and host for all camp-sponsored retreat weekends including Heller Wexler and Board Retreat weekends. Ensure coordination between multiple groups at one time. Inspect and close camp upon conclusion of event(s), including locking all offices, storing equipment, turning off lights, etc. Note any damage and share with Facility Manager.  

  • Collaborate with the Food Service Manager to support the rental group experience. In the absence of the Food Service Manager, order food, and manage support food service operations and dietary needs.  

  • As needed, hire and manage rental group event staff, orient guests to site facilities and protocols, and manage check-in/out. 

REGISTRATION & ADMINISTRATION  

  • Oversee and serve as the main point of contact for the camper registration and payment processes.  

  • Use CampMinder to enroll campers, run reports, and process deposits and payments in compliance with URJ policies and procedures.  

  • Work with camper families and vendors to manage payment plans and accounts receivable.  

  • Collect scholarship information and prepare reports for camp leaders.  

SUMMER & CAMP LEADERSHIP 

  • Live on-site during the summer season as a member of the summer Leadership Team. 

  • Purchase supplies and manage petty cash for program areas. Work with the summer logistics team to distribute appropriately. 

  • Supervise summer drivers and summer host positions. 

  • Serve as a member of the camp’s professional team and URJ Camping System’s national cohort. Partner with colleagues on designated projects. Whenever possible, provide support and assistance to national efforts and initiatives of the URJ Camping System and the URJ in general. Play an active, visible role on the regional and national camping scene. This includes participation in professional development opportunities.   

  • Prioritize, model, and support continued learning around racial equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI) principles and Jewish values.  

  • Ensure alignment with URJ and Eisner Camp’s mission, vision, and values in all areas of work.

  • REDI Experience (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). Demonstrated experience or willingness to prioritize URJ Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (i.e., ableism, LGBTQIA+ Inclusion, antiracism, etc.) priorities. Willingness to seek out voices from diverse backgrounds to build ideas and make decisions. Prioritize outreach to multi-racial, marginalized communities. Plan and budget through a REDI lens using URJ resources.  

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Reside at camp for weekends and evenings as needed to support rental business. 

  • Reside at camp for the summer season. 

  • Occasional in-person team meetings as required.  

  • Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, or event support is a plus.  

  • Able to physically maintain a demanding schedule, including responding to after-hours needs from guests. 

  • Willing to help in areas of maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen, and program when needed.
