Temple Beth Am (TBAM) in Pinecrest, Florida, one of the largest reform congregations in the Southeastern United States, is seeking a Jewish Education Coordinator to support its Youth Engagement (YERS) educational programs. Jewish Education Coordinator Job Description
Position Summary:
The Jewish Education Coordinator supports the vision and implementation of high-quality Jewish educational programming for the congregation’s supplementary Jewish education, and family engagement initiatives. This role includes curriculum development, teacher training, program coordination, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
The Jewish Education Coordinator is a full-time exempt position and reports to the YERS Lifelong Learning Director. This position is an integral part of the Youth Engagement team at Temple Beth Am.
Please note: this position requires weekend and evening work in alignment with Youth Engagement and Religious School activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development and Implementation
o Collaborate with leadership to design, evaluate, and enhance Judaic and Hebrew curricula.
o Ensure educational content reflects the congregation's values and mission.
o Incorporate innovative and experiential learning methods into programs.
o Create Judaic content and experiences for our constituents.
2. Teacher Support and Professional Development
o Recruit, train, and mentor religious school teachers.
o Coordinate regular professional development workshops and training sessions.
o Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to educators to ensure effective teaching.
o Strengthen the existing Jewish Studies, Hebrew, and family engagement curricula.
o Teach Hebrew or Judaica when needed.
3. Program Coordination
o Oversee the logistics and scheduling of religious school classes, educational field trips, and family programs.
o Coordinate holiday celebrations, Shabbat programming, and special events with an educational component.
o Serve as a resource for students and families to foster engagement and retention.
4. Community Engagement
o Build relationships with students, parents, and community members to promote a love of Jewish learning.
o Collaborate with clergy and staff to integrate education into broader synagogue life.
o Create initiatives to engage families in meaningful Jewish experiences.
5. Administrative Duties
o Maintain program calendars, records, and materials.
o Ensure compliance with safety and child protection policies.
o Assist with communications, including newsletters, emails, and social media updates related to educational programming.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Jewish Studies, or a related field.
- Experience in Jewish education, curriculum development, and program coordination.
- Strong knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and Hebrew language.
- Teaching and supervisory experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
- Must speak Hebrew
